A bus ride turned into a disaster when it was involved in an accident. The motor vehicle accident occurred on a Colorado highway, injuring 11 people. The injured victims have been transported to medical facilities for treatment.
The episode unfolded when passengers were on board a bus. The accident reportedly occurred when the driver of a tractor-trailer was moving at a slow rate of speed with its lights flashing. The driver of the bus approached from behind, but tried to prevent the vehicle from hitting the back of the tractor. The bus rapidly switched lanes, but the driver lost control of the vehicle. The bus glided across the road and slammed into a barrier located to the right of the highway.
The impact caused the bus to rotate onto its left side. Medical personnel and authorities arrived at the scene and determined that the 11 passengers injured suffered moderate to serious injuries. They were transported to area hospitals for treatment and the bus driver suffered only minor injuries. Authorities indicate that the tractor did not have the required slow-moving vehicle sign posted before the crash occurred. No citations have been reported in regard to this incident.
Either driver involved in this motor vehicle accident could face civil penalties. The passengers that have suffered serious injuries have likely endured a vast amount of physical and mental trauma and retain the right to seek the recovery of damages by pursuing legal action against the driver they feel is responsible. The victims may seek recovery through the civil court system of Colorado.
