A Monday night accident involving three vehicles has claimed the life of a 12-year-old boy. The fatal accident has resulted in eight people injured. One of the injured is a five-week-old baby who is still being hospitalized at a Colorado medical facility.
The accident reportedly occurred at a traffic light and while waiting at the red light, a Dodge SUV, driven by a 45-year-old man, slammed into the back of a Chevy. The impact forced the Chevy into the rear of a Toyota. The Toyota was then forced into the middle of the intersection. The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital and released for minor injuries. The driver of the Chevy and three of her occupants sustained only minor injuries as well.
A young boy and infant, who were also occupants in the Chevy, were not as fortunate. The boy suffered grave injuries and was flown to the hospital where he later died. The infant still remains hospitalized in critical condition. At last report, the accident is still being investigated.
When the results of a car accident are fatal, emotions can be overwhelming for the surviving family members. The driver of the Dodge may have to respond to a wrongful death claim. The surviving family of the deceased victim in this fatal accident retain the right to pursue legal action against the driver of the Dodge and file a wrongful death claim on behalf of the deceased. The civil court system in Colorado may award monetary damages to the family, if it is proven the other party is responsible for the boy’s death.
