Numerous instances of serious injuries or death are the result of car accidents. Generally, a car accident is even more treacherous when a pedestrian is hit by a vehicle operated by a reckless or negligent driver. A fatal car accident in Colorado has taken place recently and involved a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
According to Colorado authorities, a pedestrian car accident took place as a 31-year-old woman was crossing the road. A 42-year-old male driver crashed into the victim, killing her upon impact. Reportedly, the driver of the vehicle never stopped to see if the woman was okay and kept driving until he was away from the scene.
After a preliminary investigation, authorities placed the hit-and-run driver under arrest. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death. Colorado authorities maintain that the suspected driver did confess to them that he did in fact strike the woman before driving away from the scene.
Any type of car accident can be overwhelming for victims who sustain a personal injury. Understandably, it is even more troublesome when someone loses their life in a fatal car accident at the hands of another driver. The surviving family members of the woman who is deceased in this case retains the right to file a wrongful death claim against the driver of the vehicle. Under Colorado law, victims and families of deceased victims can pursue civil litigation against a negligent driver for compensation of financial damages such as burial costs and pain and suffering caused by the fatal event.
