Denver family loses a young loved one in car accident

On Behalf of | Jun 18, 2013 | Car Accidents

A car accident can be an emotional time even when nobody is injured, or if everyone escapes the collision with injuries that aren’t life-threatening. When a family is involved and one member doesn’t survive, however, it can be absolutely devastating. A recent Denver car accident has claimed the life of a 17-year-old young man and left his family looking for answers.

The accident included at least three vehicles and possibly a fourth. It appears the cause of the accident was two vehicles racing at an estimated 100 miles per hour. A van, in which a family of five was traveling in, attempted to swerve out of the way of an oncoming car but ended up having a head-on collision with at least one of the vehicles that was allegedly racing. The young man was ejected from the van. His sister rushed to his side and spent his final moments with him.

One other family member received injuries requiring hospitalization. Now, they are dealing with the loss of a loved one and another injured, but the responsible parties have yet to be found. As this investigation continues, the family may want to pursue the possibility of filing a civil suit to recover their monetary losses. While charges are pending, this can give the family time to get all needed information in order so they can move forward should a civil suit be warranted once those responsible are discovered.

Any Denver resident that has been the victim of a car accident that has resulted in injury or pain and suffering could benefit from familiarizing themselves with the state laws. If the situation is such that the victim is unable to file for themselves, a family member might want to step in and help determine the best course of action. After such a traumatic event, a victim can benefit from monetary compensation that will allow them to focus on their recovery and not be faced with the potential of financial ruins.
