Colorado car accident claims the life of an out of state woman

On Behalf of | Jun 26, 2013 | Car Accidents

A car accident can be a trying time for a family, especially when it tragically ends in death. There are often many decisions that need to be made while the family is still grieving. A recent Colorado car accident has claimed the life of one woman.

A man and his wife were traveling in their car when they were sideswiped by an oncoming truck that was said to have crossed into their lane of travel. The husband was driving and the woman was on the passenger’s side, which is the side that took the impact. The man was injured with what appears to be non life threatening injuries. There was also a witness injured by debris from the wreck. His injuries were believed to be minor at the time of the incident.

Although the woman’s family is undoubtedly going through a trying time while facing the death of their loved one, they could benefit from looking into their right to file a civil suit. With final medical expenses as well as burial expenses, the family could find themselves in a financial struggle in addition to the emotional anguish they are already facing. Even if charges are filed against the driver of the truck, the husband or family could still be entitled to monetary compensation to help cover the other expenses and hopefully keep this family from an additional stress.

Any Colorado resident that has been a victim of a car accident or the family of a victim could benefit greatly from taking a proactive approach. By knowing a victim’s rights under the applicable law and starting any proceedings as soon as possible, a family can hope for a positive outcome that is fair and appropriate. It can be difficult to think about the monetary side of the situation while in such pain from losing a loved one, but it can be financially critical.
