Having a car accident is a risk we all take as drivers every time we get on the road. However, a person is responsible for their actions when they get behind the wheel, particularly when they injure someone. A 27-year-old Colorado man is in critical condition following a recent car accident.
A vehicle was making a left-hand turn when it was struck by an SUV. The man that was critically injured was a passenger in the turning vehicle. The driver of the SUV received minor injuries. The victim could now be faced with mounds of medical bills as well lengthy pain and suffering. He could potentially receive compensation from the driver of the vehicle he was riding in or the other vehicle should either driver be found to be negligent.
The 24-year-old driver of the vehicle could be facing multiple charges. After the crash, he exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were able to apprehend him, at which time he was arrested on outstanding warrants. No information regarding charges related to the accident was immediately available.
Any Colorado resident that has been involved in a car accident could greatly benefit from knowing their rights under state law. When a life-changing accident happens, a person is often entitled to monetary compensation for things such as medical bills, pain and suffering, long term care and lost wages, just to name a few. Having a strong knowledge of the applicable laws can help a victim know the best way to proceed with any action necessary.
