Colorado police were working to piece together exactly what happened after a recent fatal crash in Denver. The preliminary evidence suggests the deadly car accident occurred after a Buick with three occupants is said to have run a red light. The car then collided with a taxi cab occupied by the driver and a passenger.
The taxi driver was killed in the crash. The 29-year-old man was the father of two children, ages 13 and 11. His passenger, said to be 62 years of age, was critically injured. Denver police say that both individuals were wearing safety restraints at the time of the collision and that the vehicle’s airbags functioned.
All three occupants of the Buick, two men and a woman, were also critically injured. When first responders arrived at the scene, some of those victims were discovered in the roadway. Denver police were not immediately certain who was driving the car, though they expect to do a series of tests to gauge the speed of the vehicle as part of their investigation. There was no further information about the nature and extent of the injuries of any of the accident victims, though the occupants of the car were thought to have been unrestrained.
Authorities have indicated that speeding may have been a contributing factor in the car accident, along with running the red traffic light. As police try to make sense of what happened, it is clear that a number of families have been devastated by what occurred. Each will likely benefit by gaining an understanding of their rights and responsibilities under Colorado personal injury and wrongful death laws. In the meantime, it can only be hoped that those that suffered serious injuries are able to recover.
