Police believe drunk driver negligence may have caused wreck

On Behalf of | Jan 30, 2013 | Car Accidents

When a car accident takes place, those involved are thrust into a series of events that can be physically, emotionally and financially devastating. Making matters worse, no one is prepared for a car wreck, and the sudden change in circumstances can bring on even more problems. Even when a victim survives a crash, he or she must deal with injuries that were sustained. Drunk driver negligence leads to many such crashes and may be the cause of a recent Colorado wreck.

Early reports suggest that the crash occurred during afternoon rush hour traffic at the intersection of Galley Road and Murray Boulevard in Colorado Springs. A total of three vehicles were involved in the incident. Multiple lanes were closed as emergency workers responded and police investigated the crash.

Two women sustained serious injuries in the head-on collision. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment. A third person was present in one of the vehicles but was uninjured. Police are investigating one of the drivers for suspicion of DUI.

Depending on the severity of their injuries, the victims of this crash are in the beginning stages of what could be a long and difficult recovery. In some cases, lengthy and expensive physical therapy is required to aid in the recovery process. Other injuries require surgical intervention, or the use of casts and other devices to stabilize injured limbs. While the prognosis of the victims is not yet known, there can be no doubt that it will be some time before their lives return to normal. Should Colorado police determine that drunk driver negligence played a causal role in the crash, that information could be used in a personal injury lawsuit against the party deemed responsible.
