When an individual is involved in a serious car accident, the aftermath can be difficult for both the victim and his or her family. The stress and fear that comes at the news of the incident takes a toll. Then, as the person begins to recover, there is a period of adjustment that comes with adapting to new physical challenges and any ongoing medical care needs. One family is beginning this process in the aftermath of a tragic motorcycle accident that took place on a Colorado Springs roadway.
The incident took place in the afternoon hours of a recent Wednesday. A man was riding near the intersection of Hutchinson Drive and East Fountain Boulevard when a Grand Prix turned directly into his path. Unable to avoid the vehicle, the motorcyclist crashed into the side of the car.
As a result of the force of the impact, the rider sustained life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Upon investigation, police believe that drugs and alcohol use on the part of the driver of the Grand Prix played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing, and there is no report of criminal charges in the case as of the time of this report.
As the victim of this motorcycle accident continues to recover, he and his family will encounter a number of obstacles as they try to regain normalcy. Depending on his prognosis, the man may have a long road ahead of him in regard to continuing medical care or physical therapy needs. In addition to the physical ramifications of this crash, the family will also suffer a severe financial burden. Should they decide to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the driver, they stand to recover the costs of the man’s medical treatment and other damages sustained in the Colorado crash. To do so, they will need to prove that the injuries were caused by the negligence of the other driver.
