Serious Colorado car accident injures 6, alcohol may be a factor

On Behalf of | Sep 18, 2012 | Car Accidents

When it comes to driving, there are a number of measures that drivers can take to reduce their likelihood of becoming involved in a serious accident. However, no matter how carefully an individual drives, accidents can still occur when other drivers fail to meet the same standards of care and concern. A recent car accident demonstrates how dangerous Colorado roads can be to drivers as well as passengers.

The incident is believed to have taken place in the early evening hours of a recent Monday. The preliminary investigation suggests that a Hummer H2 was on Sheridan Blvd. in Denver when a Toyota RAV4 entered its lane of travel. The resulting collision caused the driver of the Toyota to lose control and leave the road and roll multiple times.

The Hummer also ran off of the road and eventually become lodged under a bridge. The occupants of the Toyota were not seriously injured during the crash. However, those in the Hummer did not fare as well, and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Two of the occupants of the Hummer had to be cut free of the vehicle by emergency personnel.

Being involved in a serious car accident is a frightening scenario. In addition, there are instances in which injuries sustained during a crash appear to be minor upon first glance, but can develop into painful and chronic muscle pain. Troopers with the Colorado State Patrol have stated that both drivers are suspected of drinking alcohol before taking to the road.

As the investigation into this accident continues, authorities may be able to determine if one or both parties were at fault. Those who were injured in the wreck may be able to pursue legal action against the responsible party or parties, which could help them recover medical expenses and other damages upon proof of negligence.
