Fatal car accident claims young lives near Denver

Patricia M. Jarzobski

Police are currently investigating a horrific car accident that took place a few hours outside of Denver, Colorado, last week. Purportedly, the wrecked vehicle was stolen from an owner in nearby Colorado Springs and was being driven by an 18-year-old male. The fatal car accident killed two teenagers and seriously injured three others.

Members of the Colorado state patrol were alerted to a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the early hours of the morning after the driver passed state troopers on Highway 45. Eventually, the driver lost control the vehicle on making a left-hand turn. The vehicle rolled and three of the passengers were ejected.

The driver, along with a 16-year-old female passenger, was killed. Two 14-year-old girls and one 15-year-old female were seriously injured in the car accident. The injured passengers were taken to Parkview Medical Center for treatment. At this point, police are uncertain as to whether or not substance abuse was a factor in the incident.

In the wake of such a tragic incident, it's likely that the victimized families have a plethora of questions. Because the driver of the vehicle lost his life in the fatal car accident, the only hope these families may have for getting the answers they seek hinges on the outcome of the police investigation. Aside from that, it's possible those victimized will seek to pursue monetary damages for the pain and suffering they endured as a result of driver negligence. Accident victims in and near Denver, Colorado, may benefit from knowing that there are laws in place designed to protect families from financial downfall in the wake of tragedies like this one.
