1 injured, 1 dead as a result of a Highway 94 car accident

Patricia M. Jarzobski

Teenagers who receive their driver's license are usually excited to get behind the wheel and enjoy their a new-found sense of freedom. Nevertheless, if a teen does not have his or her full attention on the road and surroundings, the chance of a car accident dramatically increases. These car accidents can cause serious injuries or even death to the driver and/or others in or near the roadway.

The Colorado State Patrol report that a teenage driver was traveling on Highway 94 near Colorado Springs when he began to drive erratically. It was reported that the 17-year-old was weaving in and out of the lanes before he crossed the center median. He then apparently entered the westbound traffic lane and collided head-on with another vehicle. After his vehicle struck another car, it began to spin and crashed into a full-sized SUV that was traveling in the westbound lane.

The driver of the SUV attempted to maneuver away from the accident, and even though his vehicle was struck, he was not injured. The driver of the car that was struck suffered serious injuries and was transported by air to a nearby medical facility. The teenage driver did not survive the crash and died at the scene.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the car accident is currently under investigation while they attempt to document the exactly what happened. Drugs and alcohol are not thought to be causal factors. The car driver who suffered serious injuries may file a personal injury claim against the estate of the teenage driver as well as any other party who had an ownership interest in the car he was driving. If the initial indications as to the cause of the fatal crash prove true, the injured driver may be awarded financial relief to cover monetary damages accrued as a result of the tragic collision.
