Deadly Colorado car accident takes the life of 2 drivers

Patricia M. Jarzobski

It may seem like common sense for cars to stay on the appropriate side of the road, but many times vehicles unexpectedly cross into the opposite lane of traffic. When Colorado drivers are not paying attention or are under the influence, it can be quite easy for them to cross into oncoming traffic. A simple mistake caused by an inattentive driver has the potential to cause a car accident that could inevitably lead to death.

During the evening of April 7, a man reportedly drove his vehicle in the opposite direction of the oncoming traffic. As a result, he allegedly collided with another vehicle, a 2001 Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle that was struck was said to have rolled once into a third vehicle. To avoid the accident, a fourth motorist was able to maneuver off of the road into a grassy area.

Both of the drivers from the first and second vehicle were killed at the scene. Reports indicate that none of the occupants of the third or fourth vehicles suffered any injury in the deadly accident. Unfortunately, the driver of the 2001 Jeep Cherokee was not so lucky, since she died as a result of her injuries.

According to Colorado authorities, the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the car accident. The toxicology report results are anticipated to take a few weeks to analyze. If the results and evidence conclude that the first operator was at fault and caused the death of the second driver, the surviving family members of the deceased could choose to file a claim against the estate of the driver. This may help the family to find a sense of justice and some financial redress to assist with medical bills and end-of-life expenses.
