Motorcycle accident involves 2 bikes, leaves 1 rider dead

Patricia M. Jarzobski

In most accidents in which a motorcyclist is injured, the crash involves a motorcyclist coming into contact with an enclosed vehicle. However, riders must also be vigilant about the risk of colliding with other motorcycles while on the road. One recent Colorado motorcycle accident demonstrates that crashes with other bikes can also result in significant injury to those involved.

The incident took place on a recent Sunday afternoon near Crested Butte, Colorado. The preliminary investigation suggests that two motorcycles, a chopper and a Harley-Davidson, were both travelling in a northbound direction on Highway 135. Each bike held a driver and a passenger.

The chopper is believed to have made an abrupt turn for reasons unknown, causing a collision with the Harley Davidson. All four individuals were ejected from the bikes as a result of the force of the collision. The driver of the chopper, a 55-year-old male, died as a result of injuries sustained during the crash. Two others involved sustained serious injuries in the incident, and the fourth individual suffered minor injuries.

As the investigation into this crash continues, Colorado police may be able to determine the causes of the crash and identify the responsible party. For those injured in the motorcycle accident or the family of the deceased, the results of the investigation may help them decide whether to move forward with civil actions in the matter. A successful personal injury or wrongful death suit could help to recover damages associated with the crash, such as medical care, property damage or even funeral expenses.
