Colorado man dies as a result of motor vehicle accident

Patricia M. Jarzobski

Colorado police and emergency workers recently responded to two separate traffic accidents that occurred during the same timeframe and within a short distance from one another. One motor vehicle accident involved two SUVs, while the other was a crash between two motorcycles. There are no details concerning the severity of the motorcycle crash or how many individuals were involved.

A preliminary investigation into the SUV crash suggests that the driver of a Honda SUV was travelling on U.S. 36 near mile marker 12 when a collision occurred with a Jeep Wrangler. The accident took place just prior to 2:40 in the afternoon. Response came from emergency crews based in Larimer and Boulder counties, as well as the Colorado State Patrol.

The driver of the Jeep was a 59-year-old female; she sustained serious injuries during the crash, but none that placed her life in danger. The driver of the Honda, a 59-year-old man from Lyons, Colorado, was killed in the crash. A passenger in his vehicle received only minor injuries. Police were able to positively identify the deceased driver due to what one deputy coroner described as circumstances at the scene. His identity was released to the public soon thereafter.

The investigation into this motor vehicle accident is still ongoing, according to Colorado officials. There is no word of any suspected cause for the incident, or of the involvement of alcohol or any other contributing factor. For the family of the man killed in the crash, this will be a time of grieving and making final arrangements. Should the investigation reveal that his death was the result of carelessness, reckless or irresponsible behavior on the part of another driver, the family of the deceased may choose to move forward in a civil suit against any responsible party.
