2 car accidents leave 4 hospitalized

Colorado citizens are unfortunately reminded time and again that when drivers fail to follow the rules of the road, unintended consequences often occur. Troopers from the Colorado State Patrol reported two different car crashes which both occurred on March 23, sending four people to two hospitals. One car accident victim was airlifted to St. Anthony Hospital & Medical Center in Denver, while the other three injured were taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center.

According to a public information officer, the first car accident happened at about 7 p.m. While details were sparse, two vehicles left the road near the 34000 block of U.S. Highway 160, somewhat east of Elmore's Corner. This crash, thought to be precipitated by a rear-end collision, injured one driver and that driver's passenger. Both were taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center with what were initially described as mild to medium level injuries. The driver of the other vehicle received an unspecified citation concerning the incident, though there was no indication that she was injured in the crash.

A second car accident involved a head-on collision between two vehicles at about 10 p.m. The collision occurred near Florida Road (County Road 240) and County Road 234. One victim, unconscious though breathing, sustained severe injuries and required extraction from the car. She was airlifted to St. Anthony's Hospital & Medical Center. The other driver was rushed to Mercy Regional Medical Center, where she was said to have suffered from moderate injuries.

With full details of each car accident not immediately available, it is difficult to access exactly what occurred to cause the various injuries. The parties will likely look forward to the official report of each accident to review, along with other relevant evidence. Any individual injured in Colorado through the negligent actions of another has a right to seek financial remuneration in the form of a personal injury action. A successful claim may include reimbursement for expenses related to the collision and its aftermath, and other damages, including pain and suffering related to the injuries sustained.
